It was a great two weeks of soccer for the Humboldt Collegiate Institute Mohawks senior girls' soccer team.
The girls played their first game of the week on October 13 against the Lake Lenore Lancers. They won the game 4-2.
"They have finished in first place in the Horizon League and now have home field advantage in the playoffs," said coach Brent Loehr after the game.
After winning that game, the Mohawks hosted the Horizon League semifinal against the Muenster Cougars on October 18.
The Humboldt Collegiate Mohawks defeated the Muenster Cougars 3-0.
"The Mohawks advance to the Horizon League Championship game that will be held at HCI on Tuesday, October 25," said Loehr. "HCI will face the winner of Lake Lenore and Middle Lake, who also played off on October 18."
Soccer wasn't over yet for the girls, who then went on to host the 2 A SHSAA Girls' Soccer Regional Playoffs on October 22.
During the first game at 10 a.m., Bishop Mahoney from Saskatoon defeated the Yorkton Regional team, 13-0.
That game was followed by a game at noon where the Mohawks faced the Yorkton Sacred Heart team. Mohawks lost the game 4-0.
Bishop Mahoney and Yorkton Sacred Heart advanced to the Championship final at 3 p.m. Bishop Mahoney defeated Sacred Heart 4-0.
Both Bishop Mahoney and Yorkton Sacred Heart advance to the 2011 2A SHSAA Girls' Provincial Championship to be held in Regina on October 28-29.
