Kyrell Sopotyk wins bronze for Team Sask at 2022 Summer Games

SASKATOON - Kyrell Sopotyk (20) from Aberdeen has won a bronze medal for Team Sask in the 1500m Wheelchair Male category at the 2022 Canada Games Park in St. Catharines, Ont.

Sopotyk is new to Wheelchair sports, having trained and competed for one year. Jen Woods is his coach back in Saskatchewan and at the 2022 Canada Summer Games. Sopotyk competes in Saskatoon on the Cyclones Track and Field Club Team.

Sopotyk is also a member of the 2022 Wheelchair Basketball Junior National All Star Team.

Sopotyk raced this afternoon at 2:15 p.m. EST in the medal heat against fellow teammate Yousif Kaed who placed fifth.

The medal ceremony will take place at 6:16 p.m. EST at Canada Games Park.
