The North Battleford Darts Club was out and about this weekend, as the group hosted the 2019 Saskatchewan Open Darts Tournament at the North Battleford Tropical Inn. Zone Director Noel Aucoin gives an update on the darts club:
“North Battleford was named the zone cup winner at the 2018 Provincial Championship. In 2018 North Battleford sent eight competitors to provincials and four made the team that competed at nationals. This year we are sending eight to provincials again and hope for even more success. As well, the North Battleford Zone is hosting the provincial tournament this year, and later in the year our bid has been accepted to host a nationally ranked tournament with people coming from all over Canada to North Battleford to compete. Individually, we have the top ranked male and female in all of Saskatchewan, combining for seven tournament victories on the provincial schedule this year.”
After this weekend, Jason Skinner is the number two player in the province and Chester Sakebow is the number four player on the men’s side. Among women, Angela Aucoin is the number one player in the province and Melanie Thomas is currently ranked number two.
