Two people charged after police seize firearm, knives from vehicle

On Jan. 11 at approximately 11:30 p.m., while on regular patrol in the area of 15th Street West and 1st Avenue West, officers observed a vehicle driving in an unsafe manner and quickly conducted a traffic stop.

PRINCE ALBERT - A firearm was removed from Prince Albert streets after the Prince Albert Police Service conducted a traffic stop late Saturday night.

On Jan. 11 at approximately 11:30 p.m., while on regular patrol in the area of 15th Street West and 1st Avenue West, officers observed a vehicle driving in an unsafe manner and quickly conducted a traffic stop.

While conducting the traffic stop, officers observed a knife on the driver side floor of the vehicle.

At this point, all three occupants of the vehicle were arrested for a weapons investigation.

Upon further investigation, officers also located a sawed-off shotgun, two rounds of ammunition, and another knife on the front passenger side of the vehicle.

After further investigation, it was determined the female passenger had an outstanding warrant.

As a result, a 22-year-old woman is facing charges relating to possession of a weapon (knife) and a 22-year-old man is facing multiple weapons and firearms charges.

The 30-year-old female passenger was arrested on her outstanding warrant.

The 22-year-old man appeared in Provincial Court Monday morning.
