Stolen vehicle hits snowbank trying to evade police

SASKATOON - Two youths are facing charges relating to the theft of a vehicle and failing to stop for police last night. 

Shortly after 7 p.m., Feb. 25, it was reported to police that a vehicle was stolen from the 2300 block of Avenue C North.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., police located the vehicle and attempted a vehicle stop in the area of Campus Drive and Diefenbaker Court, however, the driver refused to stop.

Stop sticks were deployed, however, they were unsuccessful. The vehicle eventually struck a snowbank and came to a stop.

Two female youths, both 16-years-old, were taken into custody. There were no reported injuries.

The passenger is charged with theft of motor vehicle, and the driver is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.
