UNITY— The Delta Co-op Unity Food Store location may have been named a winner, but it was the Unity Food Bank that won in the end.

A contest ran from mid-October to mid-November 2024 for all Co-op locations with the challenge to see an increase in sales of Kraft products, all to help support local food banks. Stores received entries based on the percentage of increased sales, with the top 10 locations winning $2,000 in Kraft Heinz products and another 10 locations winning $1,000 in products.

With manager Amanda Roth at the helm, the Unity Food Store location was able to secure one of the top 10 spots. When the good news was relayed to Tomi Watt with the Unity Food Bank, she was surprised.

“We received a pallet full of food. We were able to select a lot of products such as Cheese Whiz, peanut butter, Kraft Dinner, beans, Zoodles, pasta sauces, and ketchup,” said Watt. She also added that Delta Co-op also donated some of their brand name products to fill the shelves at the Food Bank.

“We were so happy to receive such a wonderful gift and are very fortunate to have the support of our community,” added Watt.
