Kerrobert Rebels: Jr and Sr teams with strong start to season

Kerrobert Sr. Rebels lights game against Macklin followed Jr. Rebels showdown against Plenty.

KERROBERT — The football field in Kerrobert has been busy, with both junior and senior teams practicing and playing hard.

The senior Rebels have 12 players this season, with Kyran Amola, Landon Schell and Tyson Borschneck hanging up their jerseys as they all graduate at the end of the school year.

The team has played three games so far, winning against Big River as well as a win and loss against Plenty.

“We are enjoying competing against other 1A schools of similar size,” Coach Troy Snider said.

“The conferences changed this year so teams are getting the opportunity to play teams they have not competed against.”

The junior team is also playing strong, which excites the senior coaches about upcoming players.

Sixteen players are on the team this year that has also played three games so far. They had a win and loss against Unity plus another win against Plenty.

Oct 6, the smell of the barbecued burgers drew in a crowd to cheer on both teams with a doubleheader game. The juniors took to the field first at 5 p.m. to play against Plenty again. They were able to secure the win, with a score of 18-6.

Following the thrilling game, the senior Rebels played under the lights at 8 p.m. against long time rival the Macklin Sabres.  With the evening being cool, the game was on fire. Although Macklin started strong the Rebels were able to come back strong to become victorious.  The final score was 70-6.
