Richard ‘Doc’ Turriff passed away in the early morning hours of April 17, 2025 at the Assiniboia Union Hospital, at the age of 80. He was born January 28, 1945 at Watrous, SK
In 1967, Doc graduated as an optometrist earning Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from Waterloo University. He moved to Assiniboia and began his practice. He retired in 2012 after a bout of cancer. He filled the ensuing years with hunting, fishing, travel and poker.
For many years he was involved with the Wood Mountain Wagan Train with his buddies Henry Cote and Gerry Clark. He loved his horses and dogs and the odd cat.
Doc was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mildred (Burns) Turriff and his brother Claire Turriff. He will be remembered by his cousins and hundreds of people who loved him.
