The family of Mary Dell Findlay (nee Rutherford) sadly announce her passing on February 19, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta.
Mary Dell was born June 12, 1938, in Glenboro, Manitoba . In 1960 she completed her Nursing Degree (RN) in Brandon and married Bob Harrod. They had a son Bob and a daughter Tamara. In 1971 the family moved to Moose Jaw. This was her home for over 50 years, and she generously shared her time and talents.
She Nursed at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital and became Director of Admitting. She was a member of the Moose Jaw Warriors Booster Club, President of the Moose Jaw Dance Festival, an active member of St. Andrew’s and Zion United Churches and a fundraiser for the Moose Jaw Health Foundation. She was also involved with the Festival of the Word, the Cultural Centre and the revitalization of the Mae Wilson Theatre. In October 2006 Mary Dell was elected to Moose Jaw City Council.
Mary Dell married Tom Findlay in June 2006, and they so enjoyed travelling.
Mary Dell was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to dance, golf, old cars and socializing with friends.
She was predeceased by her first husband Bob Harrod (2001) and her second husband Tom Findlay (2022)
She is survived by her son Bob (Julianne) and grandchildren Elyse, Mary Beth and Bob and daughter Tamara. And her extended family David (Angela), Nathan (Jasmine), George and Charlie.
Mary Dell moved to Calgary in 2022. The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers on the second floor of the Silverado Creek Seniors Community for their loving care for the past ten months.
