Leander Mamer

Leander “Lee” Mamer passed away on November 27, 2024, in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta at the age of 88. Born on May 13, 1936, Lee exhibited a combination of reliability and a cheerful nature, both in his career at Sask Power and as a husband and father to his wife Terry and their two children, Cary and Kelly.

Lee and Terry met in Melfort and were married in 1965. After a few years in Yorkton, they settled in Unity for the next 50+ years. Lee was dedicated to his community, not only in performing his important job (often at all hours of the night) but also in taking leadership roles with the local Lions Club chapter, Unity Golf Club, Minor Hockey Association, and the Unity Credit Union among many others. His family was very proud of Lee’s impact on the community.

Lee’s commitment to his family extended beyond his immediate family. Over many years spent at the summer cabin with his extended family, he was a popular uncle. His sense of humor, his readiness to help facilitate all the youngster's fun time, and his easy-going nature made him a favorite. He enjoyed golfing with everyone, especially Terry, along with both playing and watching sports throughout his life.

Lee and Terry moved to Rocky Mountain House recently to be closer to their immediate family.

Lee is survived by his wife Terry, son Cary (daughter-in-law Laurie Larose), son Kelly (daughter-in-law Kimberly Nagle), three grandchildren and numerous brothers, sisters, in-laws, nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, December 7, 2024, 1pm. Lee’s service will be livestreamed at rocky.caedm.ca for those who cannot attend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Unity Health Care Auxiliary (Box 523, Unity, SK S0K 4L0), Ronald McDonald House of Canada, or a charity of your choice.

Condolences may be forwarded to www.rockyfuneralhome.ca.

Rocky and Sylvan Lake Funeral Homes and Crematorium, your Golden Rule Funeral Homes, entrusted with the arrangements.
