SOUTH SASKATCHEWAN - A blowing snow advisory was issued for southern Saskatchewan on Friday and early Saturday.

The advisory stated travel was expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.

Falling snow and strong winds gusting up to 70 kilometres per hour were expected to result in poor visibility in blowing snow this afternoon, the advisory stated. Conditions were expected to improve Friday evening.

The blowing snow resulted in highway closures, travel not recommended advisories and a number of accidents on the highways.

SaskToday.ca will have more details as they become available.
