ESTEVAN - The City of Estevan has provided an update on the downtown revitalization project.
"As we enter the 2025 construction season, residents and businesses can expect visible and significant activity as the revitalization advances into its second year," the city said in a news release issued April 9.
The 2025 phase of the project is scheduled to begin around April 22, with work focusing on the completion of the 1100-block of Fourth Street, including channel drains and adjustments around key utility areas. This is expected to continue until mid-May.
From mid-May to mid-July, the city says work on the south side of the 1200-block will be carried out in two stages, starting from the 1200-block and moving westward.
From early July to mid-September, crews will transition to the north side of the 1200-block, beginning at the east corner and progressing westward.
From early September to mid-October, the final portion of work will involve the installation of bollards, tree planting, and the completion of surface finishes and pavement markings.
Throughout this period, all aspects of construction including sidewalk upgrades, underground infrastructure, paving, and streetscaping will be carried out in a phased manner to minimize disruptions and maintain access to businesses whenever possible.
The press release states Mayor Tony Sernick and city council remain committed to improving the quality of life for residents while supporting a vibrant, accessible, and modern downtown.
"The city extends its appreciation to residents, businesses, and visitors for their continued patience and co-operation as we move forward with this transformative project," the news release states.
