EPS announces wanted woman has been arrested

ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service says Mackenzie Holmes has been arrested.

In a news release on its website posted on July 3, the EPS said Holmes was located and arrested the previous day by the Fillmore RCMP. She was transported to the Estevan Police Service and, according to the EPS, is facing charges of fraud under $5,000, committing an indictable offence while wearing a mask, theft under $5,000, failing to comply with an undertaking, and possession of property obtained by crime.

She made her first court appearance July 3 in Carlyle Provincial Court. No further information was immediately available.

None of the charges have been proven in court.

"The Estevan Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance and all of the tips that had been called into our office," the EPS said in the news release.

In other recent police news, members attended a central Estevan bank July 2 for the report of a man being disruptive and refusing to leave the premises when requested to do so. Members attended and spoke to him, at which time he was warned of his actions and told not to return. Later in the morning, the same man attended a different central Estevan bank where he began causing issues. Members attended, warned him further of his actions and told him to leave. No other issues were reported.

An intoxicated man was reported calling out to people as they walked by him. He was located in the central part of the city and spoken to. The man was compliant and no further issues were reported.

A youth reportedly walked away from their residence. Members attended to assist with locating the youth, who returned home a short time later.

Two dogs running at large were picked up by an individual. The dogs were taken to the Estevan Humane Society.

Police received a total of 73 calls for service from the evening of June 28 through July 1.

A 17-year-old man was arrested on outstanding arrest warrants from the Regina Police Service. He was remanded to appear in Regina Provincial Court on July 2.

Members received a report of an assault, stemming from a domestic violence call for service on July 1. A 43-year-old Estevan man was charged with assault and will appear in Estevan Provincial Court at a later date.

Police received a report of a missing child. The youth was located a short time later.

Officers received a report of a break and enter and theft from a local business. The matter is still under investigation.

Police attended to a residence a number of times over the weekend for a report of a disturbance. Police spoke to the parties involved and the matter was temporarily resolved.

The EPS received a missing person file from an out-of-province policing agency. A 37-year-old man from the Estevan area was reported to have left the city to go to British Columbia for employment purposes and had yet to arrive in British Columbia. He was later located.

Members attended to a southeast Estevan residence on the report of someone burning garbage in their backyard. The homeowner was warned of the bylaw.

Officers attended to a southeast Estevan residence on the report of a domestic disturbance. The man, who left the scene before police arrival, was stopped and warned of his actions.

Police received a report of loud music at a residence in the central part of the city. Members attended and warned the homeowner.
