Photos: Estevan Mermaids showcase skills at water show

Solos, duets and group performances were all part of the event.

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Mermaids artistic swimming team showcased what they have learned in the 2024-25 season during their annual water show April 6 at the Access Communications Aquatic Centre.

Soloists, duets and groups all performed their routines during the show. A large crowd watched from the pool's deck.

The show started with four group shows by members of the mini-Mermaids program. The first group was Atarah Thein, Dani Schell, Lennon Lefaivre, Macy Curtis, Morgan Packet and Willa Curtis.

Aurora Noo, Cullay Young, Hannah Vanstone, Laikyn Packet and Mya Senchuk were in Group 2. The third squad included Charlotte Hoffort, Dani Schell, Hailey Lafrentz, Leeanne Atwater, Natalie Vibe, Teagan Gallaway, Zella Gilliss and Mari Picton.

The final group of mini-Mermaids was Claire Biletsky, Kendall Bakke, Lexus Peters, Remi Fornwald, Rose Pilon, Rylee Gallaway and Zaha Carlson.

Soloists were courtesy of Calla Campbell for the recreational class, Paris Kistanov in youth, and Sierra Mantei and Rowyn Shier in junior.

Duets were performed by Ava Collomb and Lainey Halkyard (youth limited), Eva Meyers and Lexington Beaudry (novice), and Sarah Greening and Sarah Pyra (junior).

Ciara Schell, Laikynn Shier and Tylee Picton for 10U limited;

Ava Story, Brooklyn Saxon, Ella Biette, Jillianne Valasquez and Sophia Vibe for 12U limited; and

Ava Donison, Brinley Groenveld, Isabelle Pyra, Kayden Pukas, Mahaley Fonstad, Rory Miller, Rowyn Shier and Sierra Mantei (youth competitive).

The club also saluted all of its coaches and its Grade 12 scholarship recipient, Kara Groshong, who has been involved with the club as a swimmer and now as a coach. 

The show concluded with a large grand finale performance.

Many of the swimmers will be at the Sadie Caulder Knight Provincial Championship April 11-13 in Regina. Some of the club members will also compete at the national Prairie championships next month.
