UPDATE:

The Saskatchewan RCMP has confirmed that the hold and secure enacted at Redvers School Friday morning was connected to the stolen vehicle being investigated by the Carnduff RCMP.

In an email to the Mercury and SaskToday, the RCMP confirmed it asked for a hold and secure to be put in place. The RCMP says the situation was resolved and there is no risk to public safety.

The investigation continues and the RCMP said it will work to provide an update early next week.

The Carnduff RCMP issued a report through the Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory Network Friday morning, asking the public to be on the lookout for a 2025 grey Honda Pilot with Manitoba licence plate LCL 937, which fled from police. The vehicle was last seen travelling west from Bellegarde.

REDVERS — The Redvers School was in a hold and secure, which means exterior doors were locked and classes continued as normal, for approximately an hour Friday morning.

The South East Cornerstone Public School Division said the move was made based on a request from the RCMP.

“The all clear” was given to unlock the doors by police at 10 a.m.

“We are unaware of what the issue may have been but are thankful that the RCMP works with schools and utilizes an abundance of caution to ensure safety for our students and staff,” the division said in an email.

The Mercury and SaskToday will have more details as they become available.
