ESTEVAN - The Estevan branch of the Royal Canadian Legion is hosting a steak supper benefit on June 25 to support the Tessier family.

Tickets are $50 each for the event, which will begin at 4 p.m.

Leigh-Ann Tessier, a 43-year-old woman from Estevan, was killed in a motorcycle accident near Fortuna, N.D., on May 28 and her husband Darrel, 42, was seriously injured in the crash. A pick-up truck struck the motorcycle the Tessiers were riding. Both Leigh-Ann and Darrel were wearing helmets.

Charges are pending against the pick-up truck driver.

Leigh-Ann Tessier was the daughter of Estevan legion branch life members Sandra and the late Vince McGillicky. Sandra McGillicky was the office person at the legion for many years and the legion said Vince was a big help at the branch. Leigh-Ann and Darrel have also been members of the Estevan legion.

“Darrel is going to have a long and difficult journey to recovery, so the legion will be hosting a benefit event,” states a poster promoting the event. “All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Darrel Tessier.”

If people want to donate, the legion can accept the contributions at the office and there will be a donation box at the supper for those who would like to provide additional support.

Tickets are available at the legion office and club room, the Southern Plans Co-op and Henders Drugs.

The deadline to purchase a ticket is June 20 at noon.
