This year will be the ninth year of Drive for a Cure in Carlyle. The annual event is scheduled for June 18 with an anticipated 24 teams and 96 golfers expected to take over the Carlyle Golf Club.
The best-ball tournament is scheduled to start in the morning and if last year is any indicator of how the
event will go, it is sure to be one filled with laughter, gals dressed in pink and a whole lot of fun.
The event raises tens of thousands of dollars for breast cancer research and treatment with all funds raised going to the Canadian Cancer Society Saskatchewan Chapter.
Last year, the total pledges came to a grand total of $48,430 with $44,000 raised by the golfers along. One team raised $5,945 in pledges, with the golfer raising the most money being Connie Young with $4,450. The total raised by Drive for a Cure since its inception is more than $350,000.
The money raised from Drive for a Cure contributes to off-setting the costs of research by the Canadian Cancer Society Saskatchewan Chapter. Pre-registration is required for the event, along with a minimum of $125 in pledges for each participant. For more information, contact Charity Brown at 453-6343 or by email at [email protected].
