EPS arrests one person for impaired driving on the weekend

ESTEVAN - The Estevan Police Service says it responded to 56 calls for service during the weekend.

Police received a complaint on Friday regarding a younger male motorist driving erratically. The EPS says it has received enough information to believe the driver can be identified. The matter is still under investigation.

Officers were called to a dispute over property. The complainant accused someone of having their property. The individual was contacted and is returning the property that the EPS says was initially borrowed and not stolen. The complainant isn’t satisfied and wants the individual charged. The matter is still under investigation.

Police responded to a residence in the Hillside area Saturday for a report of a possible domestic disturbance. The dispute between roommates was mediated and no further action was required.

Members received a report of someone shining a laser pointer into a residence. Members spoke with the parties involved and warned them of their actions.

Police responded to a report of a possible home invasion. Upon arrival, the subject of the complaint had left the scene. No injuries were reported to police. The matter remains under investigation.

Officers were called to a mischief complaint at a residence. The matter remains under investigation.

Police and Estevan Emergency Medical Services responded to a local liquor establishment for a report of an injured patron. The patient was transported to hospital with what the EPS called minor injuries.

Police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle in north Estevan. A 40-year-old woman from Drinkwater was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and while over .08. She was released with a court date in April to speak to those charges. She was also operating an unregistered vehicle. The vehicle was impounded.

Police were called Sunday to St. Joseph’s Hospital for a report of a male refusing to comply with the masking rule or provide a swab for a COVID test. He was causing a disturbance and was asked to leave. Police attended but the male had left prior to police arriving. He was spoken to in the parking lot and was warned to follow the requirements of the hospital.

Police received a request for assistance from mobile crisis as they were receiving a call from an individual who didn’t speak English. Officers attended and were able to assist with the translation and getting the individual the information and supports needed.
