Estevan police investigating weapons-related complaints

The Estevan Police Service is investigating a reported assault with a weapon and a separate incident involving a knife.

ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service are investigating a couple of potential incidents involving weapons from Oct. 21.

In the first instance, a male filed a report that he had been assaulted with a weapon by a female.

As for the other, police received a report of a male brandishing a knife to another male. The victim has been interviewed and the matter is also being investigated.

A small bag containing a suspicious white powder was turned into the EPS. The substance will be tested and destroyed.

Police received a report of a stolen camper trailer. Statements have been obtained. The matter is also under investigation.

A report came in of a male uttering threats towards a local business. He was warned of his actions. The matter is under investigation.

There were 56 occurrences throughout the weekend, resulting in a number of traffic tickets as well as one bylaw-related violation. A driving suspension was issued for operating a vehicle under the influence of THC.

A number of thefts also occurred throughout the city which remain under investigation. The public is reminded to keep houses locked.

Three other matters resulted in charges laid under the Criminal Code including uttering threats, breach of an undertaking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The latter charge is not related to the incidents from Oct. 21.
