The Saskatchewan Country Music Association announced the nominees for the 34th Annual SCMA Awards, including Dan Cugnet, Karissa Hoffart and Tenille Arts.

WEYBURN – The Saskatchewan Country Music Association announced the nominees for the 34th Annual SCMA Awards, presented by Access Communications Co-operative.

The SCMA Awards Show is set to take place on Saturday June 10, in Assiniboia, at the Southland Co-op Centre. Tickets are available at www.sasktix.ca

“We’re thrilled to recognize the incredible talent in our province’s country music industry,” said SCMA President Steve Huber. “This year’s nominees represent a diverse range of artists, from established stars to up-and-coming performers, all of whom are making an impact in the world of country music.”

The nominees for Female Artist of the Year include Karissa Hoffart, along with Amanda Hagel, Jordyn Pollard, Shantaia and Teagan Littlechief.

The nominees for Emerging Artist of the Year include Weyburn’s Dan Cugnet, along with Adam Johnson, Andrea An, Darryl Anderson and Morgan Robertson.

Cugnet has two albums in the Alternative Country Album of the Year category, 45 and Rodeo Cabaret.

In the category of Music Venue of the Year, the Happy Nun Café in Forget was nominated. The café was destroyed in a fire last year, and it is unclear at this point if the owners will rebuild or not.

Weyburn’s own Tenille Arts, now working out of Nashville, is up for two awards, including Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year, and for Single of the Year, for “Back Then, Right Now”.
