ASSINIBOIA - The Town of Assiniboia had a council meeting on November 22. Attending the meeting were Mayor Sharon Schauenberg; Councillors: Robert Ellert, Kent Fettes, Patrick Grondin, Graham Harvey, Peter Kordus and Paul Tendler; CAO Clint Mauthe; Kerri Martin, director of corporate services; and Nick Zuck, director of operations.
The agenda was accepted and adopted, with the addition of Saskatchewan Health Authority Agreement-Asaskan Complex. Fettes/ Ellert moved the agenda.
Other guests at the meeting included Assiniboia Times and Tom Stanley. The minutes of last meeting accepted and adopted as read, as moved by Fettes/ Kordus.
The report from RCMP accepted and adopted as read, as moved by Harvey/ Fettes. Council accepted and adopted the reports as presented by the CAO, the statement of financial activity and a list of paid accounts, and was motioned by Grondin/Fettes.
Mayor Sharon Schauenberg attended the Remembrance Day Service, the Chamber Luncheon on November 15, and a meeting with the RM and a rural fire meeting on November 16.
The mayor promoted the upcoming events of the Santa Parade, Chamber Christmas Social, and Scotties Tournament of Hearts Lunch and Learn.
Ellert, Grondin and Kordus also attended the rural fire meeting. Grondin and Harvey attended several POW meetings. Tendler attended the South Central Municipal Association meeting. There was a request for decision from Council on the Lorras Community Grant, that council refer the choice of the 2021 annual Lorras donation to the Planning and Development Committee for more discussion. Council directed administration to roll the uncollectible receivables to the tax rolls. Motioned by Harvey/ Grondin.
Council approved the release grant funds from the Main Street Revitalization grant to the project at 229 Centre Street, which included a complete replacement of the siding, the door and windows for grant funding. Motioned by Ellert/ Fettes.
Council approved the capital road project for 2022 further that the Town can issue a tender for the work which is planned for and hopefully to be completed in the spring and summer of 2022. Motioned by Harvey/ Kordus.
The Town of Assiniboia signed a five-year agreement with the Sask. Health Authority Agreement - Asakan Complex for the Red Coat Clinic and Public Health. Motioned by Fettes/ Grondin
Council supported the exploration of a regional airport and directed administration to send a letter to RM Lake of the River No 72 supporting their efforts in recruiting partners for a regional airport. Motioned by Ellert/Fettes.
December Council Meetings will change dates from the first and third Mondays to one meeting on Tuesday, December 14.
