PENSE – Large clouds of black smoke could be seen for miles on Sunday evening.
The source of that smoke was a tractor that had caught on fire just south of Highway 1 near the community of Pense. Around 8:30 p.m. on June 11, the Pense Fire Department were already well into fighting the blaze.
"We were able to quickly knock down the fire once we arrived, unfortunately the tractor was lost" said Pense Fire Chief David Smith. "The farmer was in the process of seeding his field and the community has rallied around him to help complete the seeding."
Chief Smith added as a reminder for people who witness firefighters responding to an incident "be cautious and couteous when passing emergency crews."
