WEYBURN - In celebration of National Police Week, the Weyburn Review/ Weyburn This Week interviewed Cpl. Riley Doud, with the Weyburn Police Services. National Police Week will be observed across Canada from May 15 to 21. This special week to recognize the efforts of law enforcement officers began in 1970 as a way for the police to connect with their communities and to increase awareness about the services they provide.
How long have you served with the WPS?
I am currently in my 12th year with the Weyburn Police Service.
What do you view as the most important day-to-day responsibilities of police members?
Being there to help people at a time when they are in need assistance.
What is your favourite kind of community interaction (school visits/ police tours/ job fairs)?
I enjoy interacting with the Community, especially at sporting events and speaking to youth.
Why did you choose a career with the police?
I have always been interested in Policing. I was given the opportunity to serve and give back to the community with the Weyburn Police Service.
What safety/ law tip would you like to remind the citizens of Weyburn?
With the upcoming graduations and now being able to without restrictions. I would like to remind all the graduates and those celebrating to be safe and responsible.
