REGINA — Regina police have confirmed that the death of one individual in a house fire on Thursday is being investigated as a homicide, in conjunction with Regina Fire & Protective Services.
Both RFPS and RPS members were dispatched to a reported house on fire at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 16, on the 1400 block of Cameron Street.
Firefighters got the fire under control, and discovered a deceased man inside the house while doing a search of the property. Investigation widened to include the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, at this time.
All three agencies have now determined that the adult male’s death was the result of homicide.
The victim’s identity is known but will not be released at this time, said the RPS statement. Next of kin have been notified.
This is the city’s 15th homicide in 2021.
