WPS received a message from the RCMP about an erratic driver travelling toward Weyburn on Highway 35. The vehicle was located by a Weyburn CTSS member, who then attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not stop for police and continued north on Highway 35. A short time later RCMP Telecoms reported the same vehicle was then travelling south on Highway 35 back toward Weyburn.

WPS members were able to get the vehicle stopped and the driver showed signs of impairment. The driver was charged with numerous offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation, operating while over 80mg of alcohol in the blood stream, and disobeying a signal by a peace officer to stop.

Weyburn CTSS and Saskatchewan Highway Patrol members stopped a vehicle on the south side of the city, with the driver showing signs of impairment. The driver tested positive for THC, which resulted in a driver’s license suspension of 60 days and their vehicle being impounded for three days.

WPS members were dispatched to a report of mischief at a business on Jan. 3. Three individuals were identified by a store employee, and the individuals were charged under the Criminal Code and released on an undertaking for court at a later date.

A member of WPS was doing a walk-through of a business on the west side of the city, and came across two individuals that were known to that member not to have contact with one another. The individual who had the no-contact condition was arrested for failing to comply with an undertaking.

Police were dispatched to an apartment building to a report of an unconscious individual in the stairwell on Jan. 4. A resident of the building called police after locating the individual and could not wake them. Police and EMS found the individual had overdosed, Naloxone was administered, and further medical assistance was declined by the individual.

Police responded to a report of an assault that had occurred at one of the hotels in the city on Jan. 6. When police arrived the suspect had already left the area, and a warrant for the individual’s arrest was issued by the Justice of the Peace.
