When COVID hit the world early this year, Krista Dawn Loppe was considered an essential worker.

Because of this she was given many gift cards to thank her for her service but she did not think she was the one who deserved the gifts so she decided to use those gift cards to buy things for the seniors in The Villa, a care home in Oxbow.

The seniors were in lock down and were not allowed to have any visitors and it was very hard for them, so Loppe bought them things to help them feel better during those first few months of COVID-19.

“Everybody in town knows all the seniors. They helped build Oxbow; we know them in some way throughout the community,” Loppe explains.

Because of this, Loppe has decided to put together a Secret Santa this holiday season for the seniors in The Villa and if possible, the seniors in the Galloway Health Centre as well. There are 11 women and six men in the Villa and there are eight women and four men in the Galloway Centre.

“I have gotten a couple donations so far via contactless pickup and drop off at my house. I also see people around town who tell me they will put something together,” Loppe said.

More donations are still needed.

If you would like to help donate to this great cause you may contact Loppe via Facebook messenger by searching for her full name Krista Dawn Loppe, or you may also call her at 306-740-6426. The donations should be in by Dec. 15, as it has to go through a decontamination process before it can be given to the residents.
