A local hockey product has been selected for the Sask First Male Under-16 Fall Camp this year.

Forward Carter Onrait, who has played his developmental hockey with the Estevan Minor Hockey Association, was one of 30 players from across the province chosen for the camp. Onrait is entering his first season of U18 hockey.

Most recently, he was a member of the Estevan TS&M U15 AA Bruins squad.

The Saskatchewan Hockey Association and Sask First High-Performance announced the players born in 2006 that will attend the camp. The players selected were evaluated amongst 167 athletes at the most recent summer camp which took place in Lumsden from July 30-Aug. 1.

In 2021, the fall camp will take place in Regina and Wilcox from Sept. 16-19 before a final roster of 20 players will be chosen. From there, the players selected will make up Team Saskatchewan for the 2021 WHL Cup scheduled for late October.

“It was nice being back in the rink at the Sask First summer camp in Lumsden. The players played exceptionally well which made it difficult on the evaluators and coachng staff. All-in-all, we are happy with the selections that will carry forward in the program,” said Joel Houseman, the program director for Sask. First High-Performance.

Earlier this year, the coaching staff was selected for the Male U16 program, which includes head coach Rod Dallman, assistant coaches Ryan McDonald and Darrin McKechnie, and video coach Brett Pilkington.
