The golfer for this week, Gord Paulley, has been a dedicated promoter of the sport as well as a golfer himself for many years.
He started golfing 50 years ago when he began playing golf with his father. Since then, he has become very involved in the sport and usually golfs at least once a week.
Paulley likes to golf at the Carlyle Golf Course, where he has been secretary for over a decade, but he also loves golfing at the other courses in the area, like Golf Kenosee or White Bear Lake Golf Course.
Paulley explained that he has grown as a golfer over the years and has had his share of impressive shots, though his skill may not look like much.
“I’ve got a rather unique golf swing, but I can tell you, I do have three holes in ones.”
He has also been part of some golf tournaments like the Senior Men’s Ryder Cup, which takes place between Golf Kenosee and White Bear Lake Golf Course each year. He played for the White Bear team the last two years.
When asked what his favourite parts about golfing were, Paulley responded that it was the endless possibilities and the fun he had with other people.
“You just never know…what the next day brings … Everything’s an experience and you just never know — it’s golfing with other people and sharing a few laughs.”
