Weyburn wrestlers bring back 15 medals from Moose Jaw tournament

A total of 19 wrestlers travelled to Moose Jaw over the weekend, and brought back a total of 15 medals.

WEYBURN – A total of 19 wrestlers travelled to Moose Jaw over the weekend, with the combination of the SHSAA high school tournament and the SAWA tournament, and brought back a total of 15 medals, including four gold, six silver, and five bronze.

Two high school wrestlers from the Weyburn Wrestling Club attended  the South Sask. Championship SHSAA high school tournament in Moose Jaw on Feb. 10.

In the Novice Female category, 53 kg, Avlynn Drake won first place for a gold medal, and in the Elite Female category, 50 kg, Avlynn Drake placed second for silver.

In the Elite Male category, 65 kg, Trotter Drake placed fourth.

Seventeen members of the Weyburn Wrestling Club attended the South Sask Championship SAWA tournament held in Moose Jaw on Feb. 11, and brought back 13 medals, including three gold, five silver and five bronze.

In the Freshie category: Owen Pulfer placed second for silver; Lochlan Pirlot and Cassius Henning placed third for bronze; Grady McLeod and Meagan Kerr were fourth, and Anna Lanz came in fifth.

In the Novice category: Conner Pocha won first for gold; Brysen Richaud and Rio Orr won second for silver; Sophie McLeod placed third for bronze, and Leiro Dayaan came in fifth.

In the Peewee category: Ezakiel Peralta won first for gold; Donovan Lanz and Hudson Fowler won second for silver; Owen Arthur and Jep Furgason placed third for bronze.

In the Bantam Male category, Ephraim Henning won first for gold.
