On Dec. 1 at approximately 8:55 a.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Rink Avenue for the report of a home invasion. Information received was that multiple individuals entered the residence, threatened and assaulted the victim and fired several shots with what was reported to be a BB gun inside the home. The suspects then fled in a vehicle.
Police arrived on scene and gathered suspect descriptions. During this timeframe, a reported hit and run collision occurred in a parking lot in the 100 block of Rink Avenue with what was believed to be the same vehicle in which the suspects fled.
A short time later, police received another report of a hit and run collision with the same vehicle at the intersection of McIntosh Street and 9 Avenue North. Information received was that the vehicle had been driving at a high rate of speed before side-swiping another vehicle and fleeing. Shortly after 9:45 a.m., police were alerted to a male threatening another victim with a knife and attempting to steal a truck from a residence in the 3200 block of Elgaard Drive, which was unsuccessful.
The suspect then fled to the 1200 block of North Galloway Street where he threatened another victim with what appeared to be a firearm and a knife and stole their vehicle. A short time later, officers observed the male driving the stolen vehicle in the area of Rochdale Boulevard and North Stockton Street where the suspect vehicle was involved in a collision. The suspect attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by officers.
As a result of this investigation, a 43 year-old man, of Piapot First Nations, is charged with: attempted murder; break and enter; pointing a firearm; uttering threats; and mischief under $5,000.
A 39 year-old woman, of Regina, is charged with break and enter.
The accused made their first appearances on these charges in Provincial Court on Dec. 2, at 9:30 a.m.
