REGINA - Face the fears of spooky and unnatural things if you dare at the Spicer Scare House on Halloween.

The haunted house in Regina, run by the Spicer family, gives those brave enough to enter the scare of a lifetime.

Riley Spicer talked about how the haunted house started. “We started it well nine years ago, and there's another haunted house in the area that closed down, and after that one closed down, I was a little sad as an 11 or 12-year-old trick-or-treater, so I decided that I would be or ask my parents if I could make a haunted house and they said sure.”

The haunted house started with Riley and his friends having fog and boxes to jump out of to scare people.

Now, the Spicer Scare House is an eight-minute walk through the Spicer’s backyard and their neighbour's backyard. The haunted house includes 18 actors, props, machines and more to frighten those passing by.

Riley said his family and neighbour's talk earlier in Oct. each year to discuss their plans and how long the Haunted House will end up being.

He also said this year's haunted house is longer due to an expansion in their neighbour's backyard.

The haunted house has become so popular in Regina families have waited hours to get a glimpse inside.

Riley said between Oct. 25 and 26, 600 people came between the two days. He expects those numbers to be the same on Halloween night.

While the haunted house aims to scare people, it also raises money for a great cause.

For the last three years, the Spicer Scare House has partnered with the Bright Eyes Dog Rescue in Regina. All proceeds from the haunted house go towards the animal rescue service.

The goal for the haunted house is to raise over $10,000 towards the Bright Eyes Dog Rescue this year.

The Spicer family has ties to the animal rescue service, as they took in two dogs who were rescue puppies at the shelter.

Riley said the money raised helps keep dogs healthy and ready to find a new home to be a part of a family.

Those interested in attending the haunted house are advised not to bring children under 10.

Admission to enter the haunted house on Halloween is free, but people can purchase a fast pass for $10. The money from the pass and donations all go towards the Bright Eyes Dog Rescue.

The haunted house is open from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.
