Regina police charge woman in death of three month old

Police say the name of the female charged will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

REGINA - Regina police say a 23-year-old woman is facing charges following an investigation into the death of a three-month-old male that occurred in 2023.

Shortly before 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, police were called to a home in the 1900 block of Halifax Street for a report of a child not breathing. When they arrived, they located a three-month-old male lying on the floor unresponsive. First aid was administered until EMS arrived, however the infant was pronounced deceased on scene a short time later.

Officers with the Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit and the Regina Children’s Justice Centre, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service, launched a death investigation.

On January 11, 2025, following the extensive investigation, a 23-year-old female was arrested and charged with manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death.

Police say the name of the female charged will not be released in order to protect the identity of the victim. She will make her first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court Monday, Jan. 13.
