REGINA - For the second time in less than a week the city of Regina is declaring snow routes in effect.
According to a release from the City of Regina, snow routes come into effect starting at 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, with no parking on snow routes until 6 a.m. Monday, November 25.
The parking ban comes as Regina deals with a snowfall warning with an estimated 25 cm of snow expected to fall on the city overnight.
The snow already started falling in Regina prior to 4 p.m., and the city is already seeing reduced visibility and slippery conditions, including some blowing snow on Lewvan Dr. near the Regina airport. Conditions are expected to deteriorate further as the night goes on and wind conditions pick up.
Previously, snow routes had been declared in effect from 6 a.m. Nov. 20 to 6 a.m. Nov. 21, after the city was hit the previous day by its first major dumping of snow of this winter season.
Snow routes are identified by blue signs with a white snowflake on them. According to the city, the 24-hour parking ban will allow crews to plow roads from curb to curb, helping improve traffic flow along busy roadways and ensure roads are passable for emergency response vehicles. Vehicles remaining parked along the snow route while the ban is in effect will be ticketed, and could be towed.
