A new project at Ocean Man First Nation will teach valuable hands-on skills to several students while building a tiny house for the community.
The Tiny House Project was officially launched Monday. It is the second Essential Skills project of its kind, delivered in partnership by Parkland College, Yorkton Tribal Council, Ocean Man First Nation, and the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
Over the next five months, several students will have the opportunity to learn construction skills as well as life and employability skills. By the end of June, the students will build an environmentally responsible tiny house from the ground up.
Some of the building materials, tools, and appliances will be donated. The finished home will be awarded to a family within the community.

The Tiny House project is also supported by Indigenous Services Canada.
