Peter Chuchak, 76, of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice after a short battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Peter was born in Cudworth, SK on May 1, 1940. His parents had emigrated from Ukraine and Peter remained fiercely proud of his Ukrainian heritage. He received a third year apprentice machinist certificate, which he combined with farming, to carve out a life in Parkerview, SK. Peter was united in Holy Matrimony to Judy Prokopchuk on May 10, 1968. They were married for 38 years before her passing in 2006. Peter farmed in Parkerview until his retirement and moved to Springside in 2002. He enjoyed gardening, bee- keeping, reading, playing guitar, inventing and was very handy, being able to fix or restore anything. He was a good man, always willing to help those in need. He had a strong work ethic and sacrificed much for his family. After his retirement, Peter was actively involved in the Springside Senior Centre. He financially supported his extended family in Ukraine and his favourite charity, "The Leprosy Mission". Peter is predeceased by his parents Fred and Dora; his beloved wife, Judy; his brother, Paul and his sister, Anne. Peter leaves his three children: Jennifer (Grant) Fisher of Wichita, Kansas, Darryl Chuchak of Saskatoon and Jill (Jeremy) Hobbs of Maize, Kansas; five grandchildren; Kara, Stephanie, Isaiah, Faith and Joshua; his second wife of four years and very good friend, Jennie Luba; his nieces, Kathy, Christina, Cynthia and nephew, Fred and their families. A graveside memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from the Springside Town Cemetery with Jason E. Kopan serving as the Celebrant and Darryl Chuchak serving as the urn bearer. The family wishes to thank Jason E. Kopan of Kopan's Funeral Service for all his guidance and kindness. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kopan's Funeral Service, Highway #9 North, Yorkton. 306-783-0099. www.kopans.ca.
