Mr. Paul Lazurko of Yorkton, beloved husband of Elsie, a businessman, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2018 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre with family at his side. He was 84 years of age. Paul was born on June 28, 1933 in the Jedburgh district, the son of Michael & Agatha (nee Machuha) Lazurko. On June 13, 1954 he was united in married to Elsie Sawchyn at St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church at Fenwood. The couple celebrated 63 years of marriage and were blessed with two children. Paul's lifelong career was dealing in metal products. He owned and operated Yorkton Metal until 1987, when his son Rick took the business over, but Paul continued to help out on a daily basis. Paul was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Church and an honourary life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hockey fan, attending many Terrier games and throughout his life was a huge Maple Leaf fan. He also loved spending time maintaining his yard and caring for his flowers. Paul is predeceased by his parents Michael and Agatha, sisters Nettie and Mary Lash, brothers Fred, John, Steve and Harry. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his devoted wifeElsie, his children, Rick of Yorkton andDebbie (Randy) of Nelson, BC and his grandson Alexander; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Prayer Service was held on Thursday, February 15, 2018.  The Holy Rosary led by Knights of Columbus preceded the prayers. The Funeral Liturgy was held on Friday, February 16, 2018, both services at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Bohdan Lukie, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The response were led by Laurie Fedorowich and St. Mary's English choir members. The cross bearer was Alexander Breen and the epistle reader was George Lazurko. Members of the Knights of Columbus, Father Delaere Council participated in an honour guard. Considered as honourary bearers were "Loyal and Precious Friends". The interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Randy Augustine, Glenn Littlemore, Randy Lazurko, Larry Lazurko, Kelly Lazurko and Al Dzuba serving as the casket bearers.
