Joelle Lynn Lucas

On December 4, 1979, parents, Joe and Cheryl (nee Chillog) Bisschop, sister, Teri and brother, Jeff, were proud to announce that Joelle Lynn Bisschop was born in Yorkton, SK. Joelle attended St. Mary's Elementary School and completed her education at Sacred Heart High School, graduating in 1998. Being the social butterfly that she was, Joelle was always the life of a party whether among family or friends. She always had a smile and a hug for everyone. An outgoing, loving person, Joelle's sunny nature and free spirit enriched the lives of all who knew her. Growing up, she began to develop a passion for animals - she loved them all! The family home became home to a variety of animals including turtles, cats, dogs, fish, birds, etc. When they ran out of room inside the house, her Dad had to build a pig pen for her pot-bellied pig, a rabbit cage, a dog house and transformed the playhouse into a bird sanctuary (for crows!). Joelle was very ambitious and after completing high school she worked at various jobs and at every job she gained not only experience but also many friendships. While in Calgary, working at Telus, she met the love of her life, Matt Lucas and they traded their big city life to move to Esterhazy, SK. On July 8, 2006, Joelle and Matt were united in marriage and Melville, SK soon became their home. There they were blessed with the births of their daughter, Jersey and son, Ty. Joelle loved her family and friends and revelled in the simple things in life. She took a lot of pride in providing her husband and children with a loving home. In everything that Joelle did, she always put others first and always had a positive outlook. Her smile lit up every room that she walked in to. Joelle loved camping, fishing, biking, tending to her yard and being closely involved in all of her children's activities, being the #1 hockey mom/fan. She was meticulous when it came to organizing events and could always be counted on to help whole-heartedly. On March 20, 2015, Joelle's journey continued as she became one of the most special angels that heaven will ever know. She entered the gates of heaven on the first day of Spring so henceforth spring cleaning started pronto. Joelle first took care of a little dust on the pearly gates and feathers began flying everywhere as she cleaned and reorganized things. We know this, because we have already found a few feathers. Even without these special gifts that she has sent us, Joelle will remain forever in our hearts. Joelle is survived by her husband and best friend, Matt and their children, daughter, Jersey and son, Ty. Joelle leaves to cherish her memory, her loving parents, Joe and Cheryl Bisschop; her sister, Teri (Craig) Herman and their son, Brady; her brother, Jeff (Jennifer) Bisschop and their children, Jayden and Jaxon; her grandmothers, Ann Bisschop and Mary Chillog as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Joelle will also leaves to mourn her passing, Matt's family, his parents, Gary (Fran Mills) and Lorraine "Lorrie" Lucas; his sister, Laura (Trevor) Thiessen; his brother, Geoff (Julie) Lucas and their children, Henry, Gabriella and William Lucas and his grandmothers, Dorothy Lucas and Shirley Richards. Joelle made friends everywhere she went. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her. Joelle was predeceased by her grandfathers, Norbert Bisschop and Emeric Chillog and her uncle, Lorne Chillog. A Prayer Service was held on Friday, March 27, 2015 from St. Henry's Roman Catholic Church in Melville, SK with Father Mieszyslaw (Mitch) Burdzy officiating. Leonard Varga led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Here I Am Lord" and "I Will Never Forget You". Funeral Services were held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from St. Henry's Roman Catholic Church in Melville, SK with Father Mitch officiating. Joelle's sister, Teri Herman and brother, Jeff Bisschop remembered their sister in eulogy, tribute and reflection. Len Gadica and Leonard Varga led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "On Eagle's Wings" and "Ave Maria". The Eucharist ministers were Sister Teresa, Florence Parlie and Rosalie Woloschuk. The Cross Bearer was Lyndsay Matechuk. Following a reception in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Hall, the Cremation Committal took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery, Yorkton, SK with Joelle's husband and children, Matt, Jersey and Ty Lucas serving as the urn bearers. Joelle's family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to their family and friends for the many acts of kindness, prayers and support during this very difficult time.
