Christina (Ina) Simpson McDougall was born June 24, 1921 at Yorkton; second daughter of John and Elizabeth Purves. Ina was raised on the family farm and received her education at Clyde School. On November 10, 1943 Ina was united in marriage to Jim McDougall. In 1944 they moved to a farm east of Yorkton where they actively farmed for over 50 years. They were blessed with three children: Jim Jr., Bert and Betty. In her younger years Ina enjoyed curling with neighbours at the Tonkin curling rink. She always had a large garden and did alot of canning. Saskatoons and pin cherries were picked for pies and jelly and there was always homemade bread. She cut grass and helped with all the farm chores as well as helping with harvest and haying. Ina enjoyed knitting and crocheting; many pairs of socks and mitts were turned out as well as sweaters and afghans until her eyesight failed. Ina entered the Yorkton and District Nursing Home in May 2010 when her health began to fail. She passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by her parents, husband Jim; grandsons: Leslie James McDougall, Don Carl McDougall, Brent James McDougall; two sisters. Jean Purves and Alice Burkell; brother Andy Purves; brother-in-law Bill Burkell and sister-in-law Eileen Purves. She leaves to mourn, her passing and to celebrate her life, two sons: Jim Jr. (Barbie) and their family, Jacquie (Grant), Brenda, Tracy (Colin), Penny (Tony) and Robbie (Angie); Bert (Mary) and their daughter-in-law Kristy; Betty (Dean) Russell and their family: Brian (Heidi), Blair (Adynah), Stuart (Dora); 24 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws: Lorraine Noonan of Calgary and Donna McDougall of Brandon as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre in Yorkton, SK with Rev. Molly Kitchen of Westview United Church officiating. The organist Carla Laycock led in the singing of they hymns "In The Garden" and "Just As I Am". The interment took place in the Garden of St. Mark Yorkton Memorial Gardens with grandchildren Brian Russell, Blair Russell, Stuart Russell, Jacquie Lees, Tracy Sauser & Robbie McDougall serving as casketbearers. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home of Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
