Dora (Doris) Mundt. Dora (Doris) was born on January 12, 1927 on the family farm in the Whitesand District, daughter of Mike and Pauline (nee: Popowich) Shlahetka. She received her education at the Homestead School. Doris fell in love with her grade school sweetheart, Irwin Mundt and were united in marriage on October 27, 1949 in the Springside District. The couple built their home on their family farm. Their union was blessed with one son, Lorne. They lived their life for Lorne and spent their days working the land and raising livestock as a family. Doris enjoyed gardening and was admired for her beautiful flowers. Doris created a welcoming home that always had an open door. She was famous for her hospitality. You could never stop in for a visit without sitting down for a meal, a treat and a refreshment. She loved 'watching' company play cards and was the most attentive hostess. She was always a good source of information and knew exactly what was happening around the community. Doris loved dancing with her Irwin. His 'Tootsie' was the best 2-stepper around! In 2014, Doris took residency at the Canora Gateway Lodge where she lived with her siblings - Steve, Paul and Anne. Doris was a favourite among the staff and attended most social events. Doris was predeceased by her parents Mike and Pauline; her brothers Bill, Pete and Fred Shlahetka. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her son Lorne Mundt of Yorkton, SK; her brothers Steve and Paul Shlahetka of Canora, SK; sister Anne Spelchen of Canora, SK; her nieces and their families: Adeline (Bill) McPhee of Yorkton, SK, Leanne & Doug, Carter and Emma Matsalla and Jody McPhee; Gloria (Warren) Vaudreuil of Canora, Shelley and Shaun, Shane Stuart, Jeremy Vaudreuil and Joelle Remezoff, Jarret Vaudreuil and Meagan, Scarlet Yagelniski and Jeffery and Krystal, Rocky-Bear and Sunny-Rae Vaudreuil; Irene (Morlie) Nehring of Springside, SK, Jana Nehring and Stephen, Bexley and Mila Martinuk, Dustin Nehring and Shauna Price and Chad Nehring as well as many other relatives and good friends.
