Mr. Roy Paul of Yorkton passed away peacefully on February 27, 2015, after a brief illness. He was 76 years of age. Roy was born in Winnipeg, MB on February 11, 1939. His childhood years were spent in Portage la Prairie. As a young adult, Roy worked in Edmonton and married Olga in 1960. To this union was born their daughter Gwen and son, Dallas. In the late 60's, the family moved to Winnipeg. In 1969, Roy began his 30 year career as a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines. He was an extremely competent driver, courteous and reliable. His safety record was impeccable... receiving many awards over the years for an unblemished, accident-free record. Roy was easy going, yet professional and was often chosen as the passengers' favourite driver during charters across North America. Sadly, in 1988, Roy's wife Olga passed away. The following year, Roy met Iris Karpyk, who became his loving companion for 25 years until his passing. Roy and Iris both retired from Greyhound in 1999, settling in Yorkton, SK. They loved travelling throughout Canada and the U.S. Their favourite destination however, was their winter home in Harlingen, TX. Roy was a passionate armchair skip, never missing the major curling bonspiels and tournaments on TV. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, garage and auction sales. Roy was predeceased by his wife Olga, parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Left to cherish Roy's memory are his companion Iris, his children Gwen (Brian) and Dallas (Roxanne), 2 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. Also surviving Roy are his 2 sisters, Joan and Gail, cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by Iris's family, the Karpyks and McLashens. Roy's friends and family gathered for a memorial luncheon in Yorkton on March 2, 2015. A celebration of Roy's life is being planned for May 2015 in Winnipeg.
