Irvin Rohatinsky passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 with his family by his side. He leaves to mourn his wife Debbie and son Jasen (Noelle). He is survived by his brothers Ray (Sylvia), Larry, Rick (Nancy), Greg (Patty), his sister Diane (Bob). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Irvin was born in October 3, 1951 in Yorkton, SK to Julius and Nell Rohatinsky. He grew up and went to school in Yorkton at St. Alphonsus School and St. Joseph High School. Irvin and Debbie were married May 20, 1972 in Yorkton. Irvin frequently talked about his first few jobs. He discussed working for the local milkman driving the truck before he had his licence. He also worked for his uncle Harry at Rohatensky's Lumber where he fondly talked about pushing rail cars by hand. For the majority of his working years, he was employed as a glazier by Henderson Glass, Centennial Glass, and Mike's Lock, Glass, and Saw Service until his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Irvin was extremely handy: he loved carpentry and working with his hands. He readily helped others in building numerous projects, and built his own cabin at York Lake and many skateboard ramps for Jasen. Irvin taught his son Jasen his handyman skills and Irvin was so proud that Jasen was able to build a house of his own. Although, Irvin always had some suggestions for Jasen! Irvin enjoyed being outdoors and loved quading, motorcycling, camping, fishing, canoeing, and ski-doing. The family recalls one particular incident where he and his brother-in-law Bill tipped a canoe and came back to the cabin soaking wet, but didn't tell any of the family why they were drenched. Irvin took up running when he was first diagnosed with MS which lasted one day because he was chased by a skunk! Irvin had a passion for watching hockey with his family and drinking Dr. Pepper. Irvin enjoyed travelling. He and Debbie took summer trips to Ontario to visit Jasen where he was working. He also enjoyed many trips to Edmonton to visit his sister Diane and her family. Irvin's family would like to thank the Yorkton and District Nursing Home staff in North 1 for all the care provided to Irvin over the years. Irvin also took a special liking to his niece, Billie-Jo and the family would also like to say a special thank you to her for the wonderful care she provided to him. The family is reassured that Irvin is now in a place where he is walking and pain-free. He will be kept company by his family, friends, and beloved cats Kit and Shadow. We are sure he and his best friend Vern are enjoying themselves drinking and fishing. The Celebration of Life Service was held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Francis Hengen of St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Rick Rohatinsky did the scripture reading. The hymns, "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" were sung. The interment followed in the Garden of Memories Columbarium at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Jasen Rohatinsky serving as the urnbearer. Memorials honouring Irvin's life may be made to the MS Society of Saskatchewan. Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting www.baileysfuneralhome.com Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
