Peacefully with her granddaughters, Sharon and Maureen by her side, Mary Stolar passed away February 17, 2016 at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, Yorkton, SK at the age of 106 years. She is survived and leaves to celebrate her life her son, Hank Stolar (Doreen); daughter-in-law, Marie Stolar; grandchildren, Maureen Robins, Sharon Stolar, Kevin Stolar and Rik Stolar; four great granddaughters and four great great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews and their families. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Steve; her son, Bill; eight brothers and four sisters. She was the last surviving child of Mike and Anne Biblow. Mary was born on December 23, 1909 in Springside, SK. She attended school until Grade 8 and worked very hard all her life. She worked on farms in the Springside area as a housekeeper and child care provider until 1927, when she moved to Kuroki to work in the town store and on a farm. In 1929 she moved to Yorkton and held various jobs in the Yorkton Hotel and as a housekeeper for the Lexier family for 12 years. She later worked in the Creamery in Yorkton. She married Steve Stolar on October 24, 1937 and became a wife to Steve, and a Mother to Bill and Hank. Her greatest love was her family. An amazing woman, Mary's gardening, cooking, crocheting and knitting were renowned. She never let a family member, friend or visitor leave her home hungry. Mary was extremely kind and caring, lived her life with a smile on her face and when asked how she was, always replied "A one". Mary and Steve lived in the home they built in Yorkton on West Broadway Avenue for over 60 years. After Steve was moved to the nursing home and he passed away in March, 1998, Mary continued to live in their home until she too moved to the nursing home in 2006. She quickly became a favorite resident of the staff. She resided there until her passing. The family would like to thank the staff of the Melody Lane and Skinner units for their loving care of Mary these past years.
She is not lost our dearest love,
Nor has she travelled far,
Just stepped inside home's loveliest room And left the door ajar.
