NORTH - Nasser Dean Chalifoux is running as an independent in the Cumberland riding.

Chalifoux said to SaskToday.ca that he is the only candidate in Cumberland with a platform that is relevant to the people and communities. Chalifoux went on to say that the Sask NDP's slash-and-spend platform would amount to minimal savings, while diminishing our taxation.

"We need a representative of the people who are really in touch with the needs of the community and has the dedication to not relent on the work that needs to be done," said Chalifoux.

The improvement of Indigenous and Métis healthcare will come when those nations achieve self-determination. "There is still a lot of racism and other negative attitudes in our mainstream healthcare system for those groups. That also goes for the educational system, as some communities want and need their curriculum to be custom tailored."

Chalifoux said that he supports the Canada carbon tax and rebate. "Countries, states and provinces are falling in line with the carbon tax. Here in Saskatchewan, we have a government and premier that oppose the tax and whose actions are taking money out of the pockets of those who could use it."
