Police ask for public's help following robberies in Wadena and Foam Lake

WADENA - Police are asking for the public's help following robberies at businesses in Wadena and Foam Lake.

On Sept. 8 at approximately 11:45 p.m., Wadena RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at a business in Wadena. Officers responded immediately. Investigation determined a man entered the business, approached an employee with what appeared to be a firearm, and stole merchandise. The man later left the business. No physical injuries were reported to police.

On Sept. 9 at approximately 1:20 a.m., Wadena RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a business in Foam Lake. Officers responded and determined a man threw an unknown object at the business’s glass door, shattering it and setting off the security alarm. He entered the business with what appeared to be a firearm, stole merchandise, and later left in a black Jeep Patriot with Saskatchewan licence plate 621 NNC. The man was last seen heading towards Main Street in Foam Lake. No physical injuries were reported to police.

As a result of continued investigation, 34-year-old Joseph “Joey” Desjarlais, from Fishing Lake First Nation, is charged with: robbery with a weapon; break, enter and commit; and using an imitation firearm in an offence.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Wadena RCMP continue working to locate and arrest Desjarlais, and ask members of the public to report all sightings and information about his whereabouts.

Desjarlais is described as approximately 5’7” tall and 130 lbs. He has brown eyes, short brown hair, and a short beard. He was last seen wearing a light brown hoodie and a fanny pack. He has tattoos of the words ‘public’ and ‘enemy’ with flames on his hands, and ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ tattooed on the right side of his neck.  

Saskatchewan RCMP Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team (WEST) is assisting in this investigation.

If you see Desjarlais, do not approach him. Report all sightings and information about the whereabouts of Desjarlais to Wadena RCMP at 310-RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
