SASKATOON — The City of Saskatoon has installed a new bike box on Wiggins Avenue at the intersection of College Drive and a painted bike lane for Wiggins Avenue northbound between Elliot Street and College Drive.

The bike box is intended to provide greater visibility and reduce conflict points between vehicles and cyclists, the city states in a press release. A bike box is designed to provide cyclists with a designated space at the front of the traffic queue. A "no right turn on red" restriction for northbound drivers making a right turn onto College Drive has also been installed.

A reduced speed limit of 30 km/h on Wiggins Avenue from 50 metres south of Elliot Street to College Drive was put into effect Sept. 30.  New speed limit signs have been installed to inform drivers.
