The newest physician in Estevan has spent some time in the community in the past, and is looking forward to practising here.
Dr. Ryan Cormier will commence working in Estevan in September.
He completed his medical school training at the University of Saskatchewan, and graduated two years ago. Since that time, he was in residency in Winnipeg for two years.
Cormier came to Estevan in his second year for about six weeks, and returned for his third and fourth years.
“Having those early exposures probably played a huge part in why I’m coming back today. I made a lot of close friends, and my girlfriend is from here.”
He expects his time spent in the community previously will assist with his transition to Estevan.
Cormier will establish his practice with the South East Medical Group, collaboratively with Dr. Edward Krickan, who arrived in Estevan in July 2017, and Dr. Neal Cabigon, who came to Estevan last summer.
Cormier’s arrival will bring the number of physicians practising in Estevan to 11, with 10 of those focused on family medicine.
Next week’s edition of the Mercury will have more on this story.
