ESTEVAN — Estevan Police Service members are currently investigating an attempted “sextortion” occurrence, says the Feb. 16 EPS report.
An individual posted explicit photos of themselves online and is now being asked for money not to post them publicly, according to the EPS information. The matter remains under investigation.
“EPS would like to remind the public that regardless of what website security protocols are in place, once content of this nature is posted online, you no longer have control of the information, photos or content,” police said.
In other recent police news, EPS received updated information regarding a previously reported stolen property occurrence on Feb. 14. A statement was provided, and the matter remains under investigation.
A request for a well-being check on an Estevan female was received. Members attended to her residence and determined that she was safe and well and in the care of friends.
On Feb. 15, EPS members conducted a condition check on a woman serving a conditional sentence order (CSO) in the community. During the related search of her residence, police located methamphetamine in her possession. She was subsequently arrested and held for court to speak to the matter.
Police also responded to a two-vehicle collision in the south end of the city. Both vehicles involved were damaged, however, no injuries were reported to police.
Members on patrol observed a grey Toyota sedan committing several stop sign offences. When attempts were made to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled from police. To ensure public safety, no vehicle pursuit was initiated.

On Feb. 16, a local liquor establishment requested police assistance to deal with a woman who was refusing to leave when asked to do so. EPS members attended, the woman was sent home in a cab, and no further police involvement was required.
Police also responded to a false alarm at a local restaurant. The building was found to be secure.
