ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist on Oct. 8.

According to the EPS, an eight-year-old riding a bicycle was assessed by Estevan EMS on scene and was found to have received only minor injuries. The incident occurred at the intersection of Fourth Street and 14th Avenue. The driver of the vehicle involved was charged under the Traffic Safety Act.

"We would like to remind drivers to use caution, especially in and around school zones, as the nice weather is allowing for increased pedestrian and bike traffic in these areas," the EPS said in a news release.

Also on Oct. 8, the EPS attended to a disturbance at a south-central residence during nightshift.  Members were able to mediate the situation for the night, with plans to follow-up and provide additional information on available services in the following days.

Officers received a report of a hit and run collision on Mayfair Bay on Oct. 7. The matter is under investigation.

Members assisted CP Rail with traffic control at the south Kensington Avenue rail crossing while repairs to a crossing arm were happening.

Three youths attended the police station with two large dogs that had been running at large. Both animals had tags on them with owner information, and it was determined they were being temporarily cared for by another individual who was already out looking for the animals. The dogs were picked up and returned home.

A noise complaint was received from a northeast apartment building. The tenant was spoken to and warned of the bylaw.
