SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN - The two men accused in the death of Oxbow's Briana Hayes in April were back in provincial court this week.

Taylor Japp of Oxbow, who is accused of second-degree murder in the case, appeared by video Wednesday in Carlyle. He was remanded into custody and his next appearance is July 17 in Carlyle.

Meanwhile, Tyler Shaw of Gainsborough, who is accused of being an accessory after the fact to murder, was in Estevan Provincial Court on Thursday morning. His matter was adjourned to July 8 in Estevan.

Shaw has been released on conditions.

On April 24, the Carlyle RCMP detachment received a report of a potential homicide. The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit took control of the investigation and began working to confirm this information. As a result of the continued investigation, Hayes' body was found in a rural location in the RM of Moose Mountain around noon on April 25.

Shaw was arrested and charged the same day, while the second-degree murder charge against Japp was announced on April 26.
