A late-season thunderstorm brought lots of rain and lightning to Weyburn and area on Thursday evening, the second night in a row the skies were lit up with a severe thunderstorm.

The Weyburn Independent Riders motorcycle group held their annual Toy Run on Saturday afternoon, collecting toys and cash for the Weyburn Salvation Army. The toys and funds will go towards making Christmas hampers for families in need at Christmas time.

Several hundred parents and students converged on Legacy Park Elementary School on Wednesday evening for a 'Meet the Teacher' night, gathering first in the gym for staff introductions, then going the classroom(s) of their children's teachers.

Glen Stomp, and his son Lyle and a number of other volunteers, put on an old-time threshing bee at the Stomp farm at Griffin, as they threshed several hayracks of stooked wheat on Sept. 1. They hooked up an antique McCormick-Deering tractor to a McCormick threshing machine to put through a field's worth of wheat.

The skies over Weyburn were filled with dancing shimmering displays of the Northern Lights late Tuesday night. This is a gallery of photos taken from north of Weyburn.

A Festival in the Park was held in Fillmore by resident LaVaughn Duxbury, in the park she developed on three lots she owns on McCullough Street over the past 18 years. The event featured live entertainment, vendors and food, along with giving area residents the chance to relax and enjoy the park.

The Weyburn Volleyball Club ran a three-day camp, for youth in Grades 5-7, junior high in Grades 8 and 9, and senior high in Grades 10-12. Each of the age levels had their own times in the Weyburn Comp Eagle gym each of the three days, covering the basic skills and techniques for playing volleyball.

A number of Weyburn area families came out on Saturday to have fun trying out archery, building birdhouses, learning about wildlife and fishing, at a family fun day hosted by the Weyburn Wildlife Federation at their clubhouse. There was also a barbecue, and displays about identifying animal tracks and looking over a collection of pelts of animals that live in Saskatchewan.
